PROHIBITED USES
You may use our Sites only for lawful purposes.
You must not use our Sites:
- for fraudulent or unlawful activity;
- in any way that breaches any applicable local, national or international law or regulation;
- in any way that may cause harm to a child or place a child at risk;
- to send, encourage or facilitate unsolicited advertising, spam or similar communications;
- to reproduce, copy, sell, distribute or commercially exploit our Sites or their content in breach of our Terms of Website Use or intellectual-property rights;
- knowingly to introduce viruses, trojans, worms, logic bombs, malware or other technologically harmful material;
- to attempt to gain unauthorised access to our Sites, servers, systems, accounts, databases or connected services;
- to interfere with, damage, disrupt or overload our Sites;
- to carry out a denial-of-service or distributed denial-of-service attack;
- to scrape, harvest or collect information from our Sites in a way that is unlawful or contrary to our Terms;
- to impersonate another person, organisation or Mango & Marmalade Stories; or
- to misrepresent your relationship with us, including by falsely claiming to be an employee, representative, partner or Ambassador.
CONTRIBUTING, SUBMITTING OR INTERACTING
Our Sites may allow users to:
- submit reviews or feedback;
- complete forms;
- enter competitions or promotions;
- submit stories, photographs or other materials;
- apply for programmes such as the Family Ambassador Programme;
- interact with us or, in some cases, with other users.
Where you submit or contribute content, you are responsible for making sure that, to the best of your knowledge:
- it is accurate where it is presented as factual;
- opinions are honestly held;
- you have permission to provide the material;
- you have the necessary rights to any photographs, illustrations, writing or other content you submit; and
- your contribution complies with applicable law.
Content you submit must not:
- be defamatory, obscene, abusive, threatening, hateful or seriously offensive;
- contain sexually explicit material inappropriate for the context of our family-focused Sites;
- promote violence, unlawful activity, hatred or discrimination;
- infringe another person’s copyright, trademark, privacy, confidentiality or other rights;
- harass, intimidate, upset or deliberately embarrass another person;
- deceive or intentionally mislead others;
- breach a legal duty owed to another person;
- invade another person’s privacy;
- reveal personal information about another person without appropriate permission;
- impersonate another person or falsely represent your identity or affiliation; or
- suggest that content has been created, approved or endorsed by Mango & Marmalade Stories when this is not the case.
CHILDREN AND FAMILY CONTENT
Our books, stories and activities are designed for families, and some content submitted to us may involve children.
Adults must take particular care when sharing photographs, videos, names, stories or other information involving a child.
You must not submit content involving a child unless you have the authority and any permission reasonably required to do so.
Children must not be encouraged to disclose unnecessary personal information through our Sites.
Participation in the Family Ambassador Programme does not require a child to appear in photographs, video, social-media posts or other content.
Any separate permissions governing our use of identifiable child content will be handled under the relevant consent form, programme terms or other agreement.
FAMILY AMBASSADOR PROGRAMME
If you participate in the Mango & Marmalade Stories Family Ambassador Programme, you must also comply with the Family Ambassador Programme Terms & Conditions applicable to your programme or country.
Ambassadors must not:
- falsely claim to be employees, agents or official representatives of Mango & Marmalade Stories;
- make misleading claims about our books, products or programmes;
- hide or misrepresent the fact that books, products or other benefits have been gifted where disclosure is required;
- use Mango & Marmalade Stories branding in a way that implies authority to enter contracts or make commitments on our behalf; or
- publish content that breaches the applicable Ambassador Terms, advertising rules or this policy.
Where this policy and applicable Family Ambassador Programme Terms address the same conduct, the more specific Ambassador Terms will apply to participation in that programme.
REVIEWS AND OPINIONS
We welcome genuine reviews and feedback.
Any review or testimonial submitted through our Sites or in connection with one of our programmes should reflect the contributor’s genuine experience and honestly held opinion.
We do not require positive reviews as a condition of participating in our Family Ambassador Programme or receiving gifted books or materials.
Where disclosure of a gifted, sponsored or commercial relationship is required, the person publishing the content is responsible for making that disclosure clearly.
INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
You must respect the intellectual-property rights of Mango & Marmalade Stories and other people.
Unless expressly permitted, you must not reproduce, adapt, modify, sell, licence or commercially exploit:
- our books or extracts;
- illustrations or artwork;
- Sam and Sophie characters;
- logos and branding;
- activity resources;
- videos or audio recordings;
- Story Companion artwork or designs; or
- other protected materials appearing on our Sites.
Free downloads and family or classroom resources remain subject to any usage conditions stated alongside them.
MODERATION
Where we offer an interactive service, we may moderate content or interactions where we consider this appropriate.
Moderation may be carried out by a person or by automated tools.
We may remove, refuse or restrict access to content that we reasonably believe:
- breaches this policy;
- breaches our Terms of Website Use;
- is unlawful;
- could create a safeguarding concern;
- infringes another person’s rights; or
- could cause harm to our users, our business or our community.
We cannot guarantee that all user-generated material will be reviewed before it appears.
Parents and guardians remain responsible for supervising children’s use of online and interactive services.
BREACHES OF THIS POLICY
If we reasonably believe that this policy has been breached, we may take appropriate action.
This may include:
- removing content;
- issuing a warning;
- restricting or suspending access to part or all of our Sites;
- ending participation in a programme;
- cancelling or restricting an account;
- reporting unlawful activity to the appropriate authorities; or
- taking legal action where appropriate.
Any action we take will depend on the nature and seriousness of the breach.
CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
We may update this Acceptable Use Policy from time to time where our Sites, products, programmes or legal obligations change.
The date at the top of this page will show when the policy was last updated.
